Today the regular session of the RA government took place, chaired by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
Before the discussion of the agenda, the Prime Minister referred to the fact that the gas pipeline supplying Nagorno-Karabakh was again shut off by Azerbaijan yesterday, and noted that since 12 December 2022, Azerbaijan has carried out around 27 similar actions regarding the pipeline supplying gas to Nagorno-Karabakh, which has led to a humanitarian and environmental crisis.
In his speech, Nikol Pashinyan stated:
«Azerbaijan’s purported environmental objectives are refuted by the facts, because the illegal blockade of the Lachin corridor by Azerbaijan, which began 60 days ago, in addition to the humanitarian crisis, has also led to an environmental crisis in Nagorno-Karabakh.
Honourable attendees,
Dear people,
These actions of Azerbaijan have one purpose: to break the will of the population of Nagorno-Karabakh to live in their own homeland, a will which we believe is unbreakable. Nevertheless, we must increasingly intensify our efforts to focus international attention on the humanitarian crisis that has erupted in Nagorno-Karabakh, and now also the environmental crisis, which is the result of Azerbaijan’s aggressive and provocative actions.
At the same time, I want to express gratitude to those international organisations and countries that have during this period taken an objective position regarding the humanitarian crisis unfolding in Nagorno-Karabakh. Our international efforts must be directed at making the emerging environmental crisis also the subject of broad international discussion. And I believe it is necessary that the illegal blockade of the Lachin corridor and the humanitarian and environmental crisis established in Nagorno-Karabakh become the subject of more institutional international discussion, because only the unwavering activity of the international community is the way to restrain Azerbaijan’s aggressiveness and provocative conduct. Thank you»:
