Within the framework of measures to neutralize the consequences of the “Corona” virus in Armenia, more than 1 million people have received direct support from the government. This was stated in the National Assembly by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan.
The Prime Minister recalled that the government has implemented 16 anti-crisis measures. “As a result, we have already managed to provide support to about 21 thousand economic entities by allocating preferential loans. And more than one million people—individuals—have received direct support from the government,” he said.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the first goal of the anti-crisis operation was not to allow panic in Armenia, and the second most important task was to ensure that the healthcare system can serve persons ill with the “Corona” virus, that is, all those people who need medical care receive that medical care. To this end, the 300 epidemic hospital places have been at least quintupled, becoming 1,500 beds, and another 150 beds will be put into operation in the coming days. 600 hotel-hospital places have been prepared for cases without symptoms. “More than half of our cases are people who carry the ‘Krona’ virus but have no symptoms. And our policy towards them is not to treat them, but to ensure that they isolate themselves somewhere so that they do not infect others. We have prepared 2,300 hotel places to isolate people who have been in contact with a patient. During this period, about 6,000 people have been isolated,” said Pashinyan and stressed that it was very important from the first day that during the isolation and anti-crisis measures, no action be taken that demeans the dignity of any citizen.
He noted that the quarantine conditions in Armenia have even come to the center of attention of the international and regional press as an exemplary indicator.
Pashinyan emphasized that the Western market has stabilized very quickly. In the second half of March, trends of instability began, but very quickly it not only returned, but the Central Bank also carried out purchases of about 90 million dollars from the market during this crisis period. He stressed that, unlike many countries, there was no market collapse in Armenia, and they managed to manage inflation very effectively. “And today we have goods that have become cheaper, we have goods that have become more expensive, and we have goods whose price has not changed. In terms of inflation in the market, we have a fully balanced state,” said Pashinyan.
