On Thursday, 19 January 2023, representatives of the leading bodies of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation, the Social Democrat Hunchakian Party and the Armenian Democratic Liberal Party in Lebanon convened their periodic session at the “Shaghzoyan” Center.

The sole agenda item of the meeting was a discussion of the deepening of the terrorist process being carried out by Azerbaijan against Artsakh, taking into account that the blockade of Artsakh and the denial of vital human necessities have begun to lead to a further deepening of the humanitarian catastrophe.

The meeting affirmed that the terrorist state is violating all the laws of international law and the rules of human rights, placing the entire population of Artsakh before a new genocidal calamity, while also deepening and entrenching the danger of depopulation.

The Azerbaijani terrorist conduct of depriving Artsakh, already reduced to a severe climatic situation, of electricity, gas and vital foodstuffs, as well as the provocation of blocking the connection between Armenia and Artsakh under the false pretext of environmental concerns and deepening the blockade of Artsakh to isolate it, are nothing other than a deliberate strategy to bring Artsakh entirely under Azerbaijan’s domination and to distort its demographic picture.

The Armenian political parties on this occasion demand that the international community apply the most stringent pressure measures to halt this new genocidal policy planned by Azerbaijan. They deem necessary the immediate manifestation of a unified Armenian action, so that through united pan-Armenian efforts it may be possible to save Artsakh from annihilation.

The meeting also welcomes the call for a mobilization issued by His Holiness Aram I, Catholicos of the Great House of Cilicia, in defense of Artsakh, and reaffirms the full readiness and solidarity of the Lebanese-Armenian community in defense of the sacred and inalienable rights of the Armenians of Artsakh.

The Armenian political parties call upon the Lebanese-Armenian community to cease all manner of business, work and classes on Wednesday, 25 January 2023, from 12:00 noon until 2:00, and for all to rally in unified ranks beside Bourj Hammoud Square, in front of the “Aren” Center, to raise their collective voice of protest against the policy of depopulation being carried out by Azerbaijan and to express full solidarity with the land of Artsakh. Therefore, our rendezvous for all is Wednesday at 12:00 noon, in front of the “Aren” Center in Bourj Hammoud.

The Armenian political parties decided to keep their session open and to follow upcoming events and developments, in order to make the appropriate assessment and to ensure the solidarity of the Lebanese-Armenian community in this pan-Armenian cause.
