India has signed a $40 million deal to supply Armenia with four Swathi radar systems. India won the announced tender over Russia and Poland. According to Armenpress, Indian media outlets report this.
The Timesnownews.com website, citing its sources in the Indian government, wrote that the radar system was developed by the Electronics and Radar Development Establishment of the Defence Research and Development Organisation in Bangalore (Bengaluru) and produced by Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL). According to the website, India has already begun supplying the radar system to Armenia.
Business Today, in turn, reports that Armenia also thoroughly tested the systems offered by Russia and Poland, but subsequently chose the Indian one.
The Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Armenia, however, has not yet commented on this information.
