Israel must immediately stop arms sales to Azerbaijan. Armenia’s Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan said this during an interview with the Israeli newspaper The Jerusalem Post. According to him, the arms sold to Azerbaijan are used to target Armenia’s civilian infrastructure.
Mnatsakanyan noted that although relations between Israel and Armenia have improved in recent years, Israel has continued selling lethal weapons to Azerbaijan, which is a major problem for both countries.
“The sale of weapons to Azerbaijan is fatal, because Azerbaijan never hesitates to use those weapons against civilian infrastructure and the population. We will consistently deal with this issue; it will always be a component of our agenda — on both bilateral and multilateral platforms. Israel must stop this deadly business with Azerbaijan,” Mnatsakanyan said.
Referring to the downing of Israeli drones by the Armenian armed forces during the days of July tension, Mnatsakanyan said that Armenia acted against Azerbaijan regardless of the weapons’ country of origin. “Our armed forces neutralized Azerbaijani weapons regardless of their place of origin,” said Armenia’s foreign minister.
