On Wednesday evening, September 25, comrades in ideology and friends gathered around dinner tables at the headquarters of the Iraqi Armenian Benevolent Union in the town of Tahanka, to attend the event organized on the occasion of the publication of the new volume of the well-known national-public figure, publicist, and author of books, Ara Aharonian.
According to a brief overview, the volume will encompass the nearly one-century history of the Armenian Democratic Liberal Party, which is to see the light in the spring of 2020.
Alongside members of the ADL Central and Regional Boards, present were party comrades, faithful members of the Iraqi Armenian Benevolent Union, and the Union’s chairperson, Yerchanik Sedrakyan.
Community figure Hovsep Melkonyan delivered the opening and welcome remarks. After expressing thanks to those present, Melkonyan invited the well-known publicist Hambardzum Aghbashyan to the podium, who in turn, as a fellow writer, presented Aharonian’s long years of public activity.
Then the musical program proceeded. As a guest, David Samuelyan brightened the atmosphere with national songs, creating an Armenian-flavored mood among those present. And with his wit, the well-known humorist Harut Soghomonian enlivened the evening.
Newly elected member of the ADL Central Board, Kevork Halebleyan, delivered words of appreciation. Touching upon the importance of the publication of the volume, he noted that the book will contain archival material.
Ara Aharonian delivered the closing remarks, in turn thanking those present, and especially the organizing comrades, who had spared no effort in turning the evening into an enthusiastic and music-filled event with sumptuous meals, desserts, and abundant drinks.
