The Armenian National Committee of Canada has announced that the city of Laval, Canada, has unanimously recognized the independence of the Republic of Artsakh. As stated on the Committee’s Facebook page, the adopted resolution states that the city of Laval
Recognizes the right of the people of Artsakh to self-determination.
Condemns the military attack launched by the Republic of Azerbaijan against the Republic of Artsakh on 27 September 2020.
Calls upon the federal government of Canada and the government of the province of Quebec to support the implementation of international humanitarian laws regarding the Artsakh conflict, particularly to ensure full respect for the Geneva Conventions.
The government of Canada is urged to grant the Armenians of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) the right to secede, through the recognition of the independence of the Republic of Artsakh.
