November 11, 2020
At the close of the unprecedented and unequal forty-four-day war, the brave Armenian soldier, volunteer, and militiaman emerged victorious, yet the entire Armenian nation, Artsakh, and the Armenian homeland suffered a painful and unspeakable defeat.
First and foremost, we bow and deeply mourn our martyred soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the homeland, lamenting the heavy loss of a bright generation, and we express our deepest condolences to their grieving parents and families. We express our humble tribute of respect and gratitude to every Armenian soldier who, with immense feats and selfless patriotism, was able to resist an incomparably better-armed enemy.
With deep sorrow, we believe that the ceasefire document signed on November 9, at the sad conclusion of the war, underscores and reflects the course and outcome of the war, rather than necessarily the signatory’s wish or full responsibility.
We are convinced that this step was forced, following the reality of the battlefield, as well as the gravity of the actual losses. It is clear that the homeland authorities had no other option.
For the Armenian people, the real test now is to protect themselves from their own anger, which can lead to a complete nationwide collapse.
Our bitter commitment today is to save what remains with dignity and pass it on to the coming generation, with the intention of national continuity.
There have been many critical moments in the history of the Armenian people, and from the lessons of that history we must realize that at this moment of trial for our homeland, the only correct orientation is to remain cautious and united.
The moment is critical. Therefore, in order to wisely overcome this frenzy of loss and avoid irreparable destruction, the Armenian Democratic Liberal Party calls upon the entire Armenian nation to preserve national prudence.
Being convinced that internal division directly harms the preservation of our state and homeland, especially now, we urge the entire Armenian people not to be swayed by calls that undermine unity, to maintain internal peace, and to rally exclusively around the absolute value of homeland-state, for the survival of the Armenian people.
In response,
OF THE CENTRAL BOARD OF THE ARMENIAN DEMOCRATIC LIBERAL PARTY
Raffi Balian | Secretary
Mike Kharapyan | Chairman
