The latest motion to replace the detention of former National Assembly deputy Manuel Grigoryan with bail was rejected. Lawyer Arsen Mkrtchyan stated that Grigoryan’s health condition is deteriorating while in custody.
Judge Mnatsakan Martirosyan rejected the motion on the grounds that it was unfounded.
It should be noted that Grigoryan was again absent from the court hearing in his and his wife’s case yesterday due to health problems.
The 63-year-old Manuel Grigoryan is accused of illegally keeping weapons and ammunition, embezzling property worth more than 101 million drams, evading the payment of taxes amounting to more than 1 billion drams, squandering more than 1 billion drams of state funds, and organising the seizure of property worth 37 million drams through extortion.
His wife, Nazik Amiryan, is accused of illegally keeping ammunition and explosive materials in three houses belonging to them, by prior agreement with her husband, their son Arman Grigoryan, and other persons not identified by the investigation, as well as committing various types of embezzlement.
