Moscow finds Yerevan’s plans to join the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court absolutely unacceptable, given the “pitiful warrants” it contains regarding Russia’s leadership. This was stated on 27 March to the Russian TASS news agency by a source in Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“In Moscow, official Yerevan’s plans to join the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court are considered absolutely unacceptable, given the court’s latest illegal and legally void ‘warrant’ against Russia’s leadership,” the source said.
According to TASS, the source in Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that the Armenian side has been warned of the “extremely negative” consequences for bilateral relations with Moscow that Yerevan’s possible steps could entail.
It should be recalled that recently the International Criminal Court in The Hague issued international arrest warrants for Russian President Vladimir Putin and Children’s Rights Commissioner Maria Lvova-Belova. The International Criminal Court explained that Putin and Lvova-Belova are suspected of the illegal deportation of Ukrainian children.
