“We are interested in peace, stability and development prevailing in Armenia and the entire region,” stated Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, who is on an official visit to Armenia, during a private meeting with Armenia’s Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
According to the information from the Prime Minister’s Office’s Department of Information and Public Relations, Nikol Pashinyan noted: “Our bilateral agenda is very broad, ranging from transport communications to energy and communication routes. Of course, the fight against the ‘Corona’ virus is also one of the important issues on our joint agenda.”
Following the private meeting between Nikol Pashinyan and Irakli Garibashvili, an expanded-format meeting of the Armenian and Georgian governmental delegations took place.
Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan noted that within the framework of the private meeting, he discussed regional security issues with the Prime Minister of Georgia and exchanged views on the situation created today in the Syunik Province.
The interlocutors emphasized that both Armenia and Georgia are interested in maintaining peace and stability in the region, which is important for the development of cooperation. Pashinyan deemed condemnable Azerbaijan’s attempts to violate the trilateral statements of November 9, 2020 and January 11, 2021.
Within the context of promoting Armenia-Georgia trade and economic ties, importance was attached to the development of transport communications, including railway infrastructure. The five-party format of cooperation — Armenia-Georgia-Bulgaria-Greece-Iran — and active work on the draft agreement on the creation of the “Persian Gulf-Black Sea international transport corridor” were considered promising by both sides.
Nikol Pashinyan and Irakli Garibashvili also touched upon the issue of restrictions caused by the ‘Corona’ virus pandemic and exchanged information on steps being taken towards their removal.
