President Armen Sarkissian continues his remote conversations and discussions with prominent Armenian figures, businessmen and specialists in various fields, who in different countries and companies are involved in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic, including work on vaccine development. Within this framework, the President of the Republic had a remote conversation with Armenian-American businessman and philanthropist Nubar Afeyan.
The American company Moderna, of which Nubar Afeyan is co-founder and chief executive officer, is actively working on the development of a vaccine against the coronavirus. In the first phase of clinical trials, preliminary data have already been obtained.
Nubar Afeyan informed President Sarkissian of this, noting that the first phase of vaccine trials has passed successfully. President Sarkissian wished success to Nubar Afeyan and his enterprises, expressing the hope that the combination of experience and knowledge will lead to positive results.
The President of the Republic and the Armenian-American businessman also exchanged views on the situation related to the pandemic in Armenia and the possible ways and means of overcoming its consequences. The President stressed the importance of overcoming the situation with joint efforts, noting that only through united efforts is it possible to emerge from this new trial.
