The Armenian Unified Information Center informs that, in accordance with point 23 of decision No. 298-N of 16.03.2020 on declaring a state of emergency in the Republic of Armenia, information regarding the “corona” virus may be published by physical and legal persons, as well as by the media, exclusively with reference to the official information provided by the Commandant’s Office.
The sole purpose of the aforementioned restriction is to exclude information that misleads the public and causes panic, and to prevent the spread of inaccurate information.
Information announced by the RA Ministry of Health, other state agencies, as well as the World Health Organization through their official communication channels is considered, within the meaning of point 23 of decision No. 298-N, to be official information provided by the Commandant’s Office, and may therefore be disseminated with the appropriate reference.
As for materials disseminated on the topic of the “corona” virus as scientific articles or analyses, the restriction provided for by point 23 applies to them, since information aimed at misleading the public and creating panic is often presented as the result of scientific activity without being such.
