The Azerbaijani State Committee on Work with the Diaspora has called on its citizens living abroad not to return to the homeland, not to risk infecting their relatives with the “Corona” virus, and not to create additional burden on Azerbaijan’s healthcare system, advising them to remain in the countries where they reside.
According to “Azatlik,” this statement has caused serious concern among Azerbaijanis living and studying abroad. They have assessed it as an act of renunciation by the homeland and an evasion of responsibility. The newspaper has characterized this step by the Baku authorities as a disgrace, at a time when all states are taking every measure to bring their citizens back to the homeland, ensure their health and safety, and create the most favorable conditions possible.
