Cooperation between the government and the OSCE is important for effectively advancing democratic reforms in Armenia, said Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan while receiving OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media Teresa Ribeiro.
The Prime Minister stressed that the agenda of reforms for the development and strengthening of democracy in Armenia continues to remain one of the government’s priorities.
Also emphasizing the positive changes recorded in the field of media freedom since 2018, the Prime Minister noted that in recent years the majority of mass media in Armenia, including television, have an opposition orientation.
The Armenian government’s steps toward strengthening democracy are inspiring and commendable, said Teresa Ribeiro in turn, noting that the OSCE is ready to contribute to the process of exchange of experience among journalists and the development of professional capacities.
The importance of close cooperation between the government and civil society was also underscored.
