At the meeting of the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly office held in Yerevan on February 21-22, issues relating to the Artsakh problem were also discussed. This was stated by Maria Karapetyan, a deputy of the “Civil Contract” faction.
“This morning, the agenda item ‘Security in the South Caucasus’ was discussed on the agenda of the Political Committee, within the framework of which the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict was discussed. And emphases were also made regarding the final peaceful resolution of that conflict. Our colleagues in the European Parliament expressed their support for that agenda. There was no first resolution or draft envisaged that was to be put to a vote,” she said.
The deputy also informed that during the Euronest assembly, both the issue of prisoners and detained persons and the issue of historical and cultural heritage were raised.
In response to the question of what position the delegates from Baku participating in the meeting had taken, Maria Karapetyan replied: “For a long time now, Armenia has been speaking about opening an era of peaceful development for Armenia and for the region in the South Caucasus. We also regularly hear messages of peace from Aliyev, up to and including a peace treaty, but here it is important to emphasize that actions and words must correspond. Our and the international community’s understanding is that the co-chairmanship of the OSCE Minsk Group is the format where such a peace treaty can be discussed”:
