Following the CSTO Collective Security Council meeting held in Yerevan, a meeting took place between the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan and the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin. This was announced by the RA government.

In his remarks, Prime Minister Pashinyan, in particular, noted:

«Dear Vladimir Vladimirovich,

I greet you in the Republic of Armenia, in our capital. Today we held a meeting of the CSTO Collective Security Council; of course, not on all issues did we manage to reach consensus, 15 of 17 decisions were adopted.

I hope that in this format we will be able to discuss the agenda of our bilateral relations, which is very rich. It should be noted that our bilateral economic ties are developing at a rapid pace. I noticed that this year exports from Armenia to the Russian Federation have grown by 80 percent. Of course, this is related to certain changes in logistics chains, but it is a fact that creates new opportunities for economic cooperation.

Of course, we have already discussed today and will discuss issues of a regional nature, issues of regional security. There are many issues; at the Collective Security Council meeting I spoke about the preservation of the agreements reached through the trilateral statements, which we adopted with the President of Azerbaijan with your help and mediation. These are very important issues that, of course, we need to discuss, as well as discuss the agenda that we hope will bring lasting peace to our region»:

In turn, Vladimir Putin noted:

«Dear Nikol Vladimirovich,

first of all, I want to thank you for the invitation, congratulations on the successful conclusion of the presidency in the CSTO. Indeed, Armenia carried out that work at a very high level, actively. Of course, it is rarely possible to speak on all issues, but overall, the work was very deep and useful.

You also highlighted our bilateral relations, which, undoubtedly, are considered allied, have deep ancient roots; often there is no need to go into history, it is already clear to us what significance it has for our bilateral relations.

As for today, if last year trade turnover had grown by 12 percent, then in the 9 months of the current year it has already grown by 67 percent. Yes, this is due to today’s peculiarities, but, undoubtedly, it will also be a foundation for the future. There is no doubt here.

When we met, we were coming by car, we discussed issues of a regional nature, including issues related to settlement in the region, we spoke about the unblocking of transport infrastructures. I am very glad that within the framework of today’s events there is an opportunity to hold a bilateral meeting. Thank you for the invitation»:
