Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan had a telephone conversation with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
Pashinyan expressed his and the Armenian government’s condolences to the president and people of friendly Syria over the large number of victims and destruction caused by the chain of earthquakes that occurred on 6 February. Pashinyan wished a speedy recovery to all the injured and noted that Armenia is preparing to support Syria by standing by the affected population to ease their difficult living conditions and eliminate the consequences of the disaster.
President Assad expressed gratitude for the solidarity and noted that for them, at this moment, the primary issue concerns food.
An agreement was reached according to which Armenia, as a priority, will send food to Syria, as well as other types of assistance.
Assad expressed gratitude for the assistance to be provided and stated that he hopes that with the help of the Republic of Armenia, it will be possible to quickly overcome the severe consequences of the earthquake.
