These elections are a very good opportunity for the citizens of the Republic of Armenia to settle a civic score for the elections falsified since 1996. This was stated today, on 30 May, by Acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan during a meeting with his supporters at the Civil Contract party office in Aparan.
“Because in those elections the citizen’s voice was taken away, and all the acting persons who took away that voice are in essence participating in these elections. And on the contrary, the citizen must reaffirm his authority, and in order to reaffirm that authority, it is necessary that the Civil Contract party receive 60 percent of the voters’ votes, and I hope that the citizen will make that decision. This is a very difficult election, and this must in essence be an assessment of the entire history of the Third Republic, because all the leaders of the Third Republic are participating in today’s elections,” he said.
Nikol Pashinyan noted that for several days now he has been publishing assessments and facts regarding the history of the Karabakh conflict, and during this time there have been no substantive rebuttals from them.
“On 18 June I invite Levon Ter-Petrosyan and Robert Kocharyan to a direct debate, and then everything will become clear. It is easy to be manly in closed halls. You will come, we will stand face to face and talk, and you will give an explanation as to why Karabakh was left out of the negotiation process in ’97,” he said.
