Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan presented the idea of pan-Armenianism during his speech at a rally held in Los Angeles.
“At the rally held in Stepanakert on 5 August, I spoke about the idea of pan-Armenianism. I am convinced that many of you, if not all, followed that event, and I do not want to repeat everything I said there. I want to add to it: what does the idea of pan-Armenianism mean? It means that all Armenians of the world, without detaching from their daily lives, their lives, their activities, must register and must show the will to act in favour of Armenia and to act in favour of Artsakh. I want to emphasise that this statement of mine is addressed to the entire diaspora — in America, Europe, Asia. What does this mean in practice? This does not at all mean acting against the country of their residence and in favour of Armenia. What I said must be expressed in the fact that our compatriots living in those countries must exert their efforts towards strengthening friendly ties between those countries and Armenia, towards the popularisation and promotion of a new perception of Armenia. Yes, just as we together forged the new image of Armenia, so too must we continue the popularisation of the New Armenia, or, as it has become customary to say, its promotion. And I hope that each of you, every Armenian in the world… the 10 million Armenians of the world will become, allow me to say so, the promoter of Armenia, because Armenia is the country of us all and Armenia is the homeland of us all,” noted Pashinyan.
He expressed the hope that after the events in Armenia, interest in Armenia will grow among Armenian youth. “I have already been told that this phenomenon is already taking place, that hundreds, thousands of Armenians, Armenian youth in America, everywhere, who had even begun not to speak Armenian, after the revolution have begun to take more interest in their homeland, their identity and their history, and we, wishing to draw the attention of youth to this new situation, have thought of a saying or slogan for them, saying: dear compatriots, being Armenian is interesting, and we must together make being Armenian more and more interesting, because being Armenian is truly interesting, because the Armenian people have not only a great past, not only a great present, but also a much greater future, and today we are together forging that future,” said the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia.
