We lost the 2020 war because a fifth column was at work in the army — such a statement was made by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan at the March 14 press conference.
“That is my conviction, based on the analysis of a number of facts. In the near future these facts will become so public that it will not seem as strange as it has seemed,” Pashinyan said, adding that more than 50 current servicemen of the Armed Forces are being charged with treason and espionage.
“Is there anyone in Armenia who thinks that these people are being framed?” Pashinyan raised the question.
He related that when the former commander of the Artsakh Defense Army (Mikael Arzumanyan — ed.) was arrested in connection with the fall of Shushi, many individuals from Armenia and Mountainous Karabakh petitioned for leniency and for his release from custody.
“My reaction was: weren’t you the ones saying that it should be revealed and clarified what happened on the battlefield, why Shushi fell — why do all of you now, who were brandishing swords, want the proceedings not to go forward?” the Prime Minister declared.
