Azerbaijanis are currently in the village of Shurnukh, carrying out demarcation work. The mayor of Shurnukh, Hagop Arshakyan, told NEWS.am this.
“They came about 20 minutes ago, they are at the head of 12 houses, on the highway, taking measurements. They are there, the Russians, our border guards,” he said, noting that the border has not yet been finally determined.
It should be noted that if the border is drawn along the highway by GPS, the village will be divided into two parts, with 12 houses passing to Azerbaijan.
Earlier, the mayor had stated that they would fight by all means to keep the village entirely Armenian.
Today, at a government meeting, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, referring to the demarcation issue, noted that the issue of the Vorotan and Shurnukh settlements could lead to painful situations.
