President of the Republic Armen Sarkissian has invited the Prime Minister, the leaders of the parliamentary factions and the leaders of the Homeland Salvation Movement to a meeting on 13 March at 12:00 at the presidential residence, with the aim of discussing the domestic political situation in the country and finding mutually acceptable solutions to overcome the crisis.
As reported by the Department of Public Relations of the Office of the President of the Republic, the statement of the President of the Republic reads as follows:
«The political crisis in the country continues, the situation remains tense, which could have unpredictable and irreversible consequences for our state and statehood.
The problems are many, and their solution also requires urgent and systemic changes, including constitutional and legislative ones.
Both the authorities and parliamentary and extra-parliamentary political forces have repeatedly expressed their positions. However, mutual understanding and the willingness to meet each other halfway are lacking. Moreover, calls for intolerance have become frequent.
Under the current circumstances, my sole aim has been and remains to keep the country free from upheavals and to prevent the creation of a situation that could lead to unpredictable consequences.
Proceeding from the interests of the state and the people, the resolution of the situation is now an urgent and imperative requirement.
Guided by nationwide and national interests, I invite the Prime Minister of the Republic, the leaders of the parliamentary factions and the leaders of the Homeland Salvation Movement to a meeting at the presidential residence on 13 March of this year at 12:00, with the aim of discussing the current situation and finding mutually acceptable solutions to overcome the crisis.
I reaffirm my conviction that the only path to resolving differences is negotiations and dialogue, and the only path to the development of Armenia and Artsakh is the consolidation of the efforts and capabilities of all of us and each of us.
