Artak Davtyan to be Appointed New Chief of General Staff. PM Submits Motion to President

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan today submitted a motion to the President of the Republic regarding the appointment of Artak Davtyan to the post of Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces. The information was confirmed during a conversation with «Haykakan Zhamanak» by the Prime Minister’s press secretary Mane Gevorgyan. From the presidential office they stated that they have not yet received the motion at this time. Let us recall that Davtyan also held the post of Chief of the General Staff from 24 May 2018 to 8 June 2020. Afterwards, until 11 November 2020, he was chairman

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan today submitted a motion to the President of the Republic regarding the appointment of Artak Davtyan to the post of Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces.

The information was confirmed during a conversation with «Haykakan Zhamanak» by the Prime Minister’s press secretary Mane Gevorgyan.

From the presidential office they stated that they have not yet received the motion at this time.

Let us recall that Davtyan also held the post of Chief of the General Staff from 24 May 2018 to 8 June 2020. Afterwards, until 11 November 2020, he was chairman of the Military-Industrial Committee.

By yesterday’s decision of the Minister of Defence, Davtyan had also been appointed senior officer for special assignments.

Earlier today, the Prime Minister’s staff had announced that Chief of the General Staff Onik Gasparyan is considered dismissed from office by force of law.
