Colonel-General Onik Gasparyan has issued a message, which we present below.
“Dear compatriots, fellow soldiers,
On 10 March 2021, a statement by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia was published on the official website of the Government of the Republic of Armenia, declaring me relieved of the post of Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia by force of law.
My position is unchanged: both the published statement and the entire process of my dismissal are unconstitutional, which once again confirms that a patriotic resolution of the current crisis can be ensured exclusively through the resignation of the Prime Minister of the Republic and early parliamentary elections.
With the aim of ensuring the supremacy of the Constitution and the law in the Republic of Armenia and exercising power exclusively on the basis of law, I have appealed to the Administrative Court of the Republic of Armenia.
I shall continue my service to the homeland and the Armenian people in a different capacity.
Dear generals, officers and soldiers, the exceptional mission of the Armed Forces is to ensure the security of the homeland; therefore, I urge you to continue your selfless and patriotic service exclusively to the homeland and the people, for the sake of the development of the Armed Forces and the strengthening of Armenia and Artsakh.”
