President Armen Sarkissian has signed a decree on calling snap elections for the National Assembly. We learn this from the president’s office.
“Based on the requirements of Articles 92 and 93 of the Constitution, and taking into account the dissolution of the National Assembly by force of law in accordance with Part 3 of Article 149 of the Constitution,
1. To call snap elections for the National Assembly on 20 June 2021:
2. This decree enters into force on the day following its official publication,” the decree states.
It should be recalled that the National Assembly for the second time did not elect Nikol Pashinyan to the post of prime minister. That is, the National Assembly of the seventh convocation was dissolved by force of law.
