Today are the elections for the President of the Republic of Artsakh and the National Assembly. 103,663 citizens have the right to vote in the elections in the Republic of Artsakh.

According to “Artsakhpress,” presenting the current situation, the Chair of the Artsakh Central Electoral Commission, Srbuhi Arzumanyan, said that a total of 282 polling stations have been formed. At 9:00, 281 stations were opened, including the Yerevan 1 station operating in the Republic of Armenia, where citizens of the Republic of Artsakh present there will vote.

According to S. Arzumanyan, voting at the Shushi penitentiary institution will begin at 11:00.

“Starting at 12:00, we will present data on the course of the elections and the participation of voters every three hours. I call on everyone to actively participate in the elections, to fulfill our civic duty in healthy and safe conditions,” noted Arzumanyan.

963 observers and 231 representatives of media outlets have been accredited at the Central Electoral Commission to carry out an observation mission and cover the course of the presidential and National Assembly elections of the Republic of Artsakh.

Arzumanyan, during a press conference held yesterday, had noted that in light of the situation caused by the “Corona” virus pandemic, for the first time representatives of international organisations and foreign media, around 200 people, will not have the opportunity to carry out an observation mission and cover the Artsakh elections.

According to Arzumanyan, all citizens participating in the elections, observers, journalists and other persons present at polling stations will be given individual medical protective equipment, conditioned by the spread of the “Corona” virus pandemic.

All participants in the electoral process will be given individual protective equipment — disposable gloves, masks, pens; those entering the stations will be disinfected, and all polling stations will also be sanitised.
