Pressures on Armenia also come with the demand to become part of the Union State; Armenia’s democracy resists and receives pressures in military form.
This was stated by the Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia, Armen Grigoryan, during an interview with Petros Ghazaryan on the First Channel.
“The Union State is a complete violation of sovereignty. There is no agenda in Armenia to join the Union State. The democratic processes underway in Armenia limit the possibility of discussing that issue.
The Armenian side has always been constructive, also after the war, and has been constructive over the course of two years.
Yerevan has taken no step to create a diplomatic crisis between Armenia and Russia. The Armenian side expects the Lachin corridor to be opened as quickly as possible. The entire corridor is under the responsibility of the Russian peacekeepers.
Now a crisis has been created; the responsible party is Azerbaijan. Russia has the ability to resolve it, because it is authorised to do so by the November 9 agreement. With this step, Azerbaijan wants to destroy the architecture of November 9; this should concern Russia.
These steps have a broad context, in the context of supporting Azerbaijan and supporting the obtaining of a so-called corridor in the territory of Armenia; Armenia is resisting this. This is the cause of the crisis.
Relations with Russia are contractual, and it is not stated at that moment whether they are ideal or not. We will continue to expect steps, but if there are no steps, questions will arise as to why.
The pressure present in Lachin is aimed at obtaining an extraterritorial corridor in the territory of Armenia. At this moment, all of Armenia’s tools for resolving the crisis are diplomatic,” said the Secretary of the Security Council.
