According to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, within the context of the “great disappointment” in Armenia, it is primarily the representatives of the former government who are the target. He stated this during a Facebook live broadcast. Earlier, Pashinyan had noted that there is a “great disappointment.”
“The next group that has a very clear reason to be disappointed are the people involved in the infrastructure of the former government,” he said, elaborating that among them he could mention certain experts and active Facebook users who were engaged in PR (Public Relations) for the former authorities.
According to the Prime Minister, “disappointed” are the Westernizers, political forces, young people who were in power or close to power, the Russophiles, the oligarchy or former oligarchs, media outlets deprived of reliable sources of funding, the clergy, certain structures of the diaspora, and people who participated in the revolution with material expectations.
“The Westernizers had to be disappointed because pro-Western forces did not come to power in Armenia. The Russophiles had to be disappointed because the representatives of the government were not going to share their power with them. The oligarchy or former oligarchs had to experience disappointment, as they have been deprived of many privileges. The media outlets that have been deprived of reliable sources of funding,” said the Prime Minister.
He emphasized that there is a large group of Mass Media outlets that continue to be funded by the former authorities, and the reason for their disappointment is that they understand that this situation will not continue for long; the funds of the former authorities will run out.
“It is becoming evident in Armenia that spiritual life has great gaps and issues in instilling values and ideas, which causes the most serious disappointment among the clergy,” Pashinyan pointed out.
