Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received members of the U.S. House of Representatives and the Armenian Caucus, Jackie Speier and Judy Chu. The Prime Minister underscored the importance of the meeting with the U.S. congressmen within the framework of continuing the Armenia-U.S. dialogue and discussing prospects for deepening cooperation.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office of Information and Public Relations, Nikol Pashinyan emphasized that democracy is the conviction of Armenian society, its value system, that Armenia will continue reforms aimed at strengthening it, and that the support of international partners will contribute to the rapid and successful course of that agenda.
U.S. congressmen Jackie Speier and Judy Chu emphasized that the velvet revolution that took place in Armenia and the achievements of the subsequent period are inspiring, and that the U.S. is ready to support Prime Minister Pashinyan and the government he leads in their reform agenda aimed at the development of democracy.
Jackie Speier and Judy Chu also presented details regarding their visit to Artsakh, noting that they were impressed by Artsakh’s peacefulness, sense of security, and the high level of civic awareness.
Nikol Pashinyan noted that the visit of the U.S. congressmen to Artsakh and their assessments are of great importance politically and also in humanitarian terms, and informed that Armenia attaches importance to the development of democratic institutions and civil society in Artsakh.
The Prime Minister and the U.S. congressmen exchanged views on strengthening democracy in Armenia and deepening Armenian-American cooperation in this direction. Reference was made, in particular, to issues of the continuation of technical assistance provided to the Government of the Republic of Armenia by the Agency for International Development (USAID).
