Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received Javier Colomina, NATO Secretary General’s Special Representative for the Caucasus and Central Asia.
The Prime Minister, welcoming Colomina’s visit, noted that Armenia values its partnership with NATO, particularly cooperation within the framework of peacekeeping missions, and is interested in deepening it. Referring to the regional situation, Nikol Pashinyan noted that it is quite tense, and Armenia is taking steps towards the regulation of existing problems, considering the support of international partners necessary in that process.
Javier Colomina, expressing gratitude for the reception, noted that for NATO as well, Armenia is an important partner, and conveyed to the Prime Minister of Armenia the greetings of NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg. He emphasized that the North Atlantic Alliance highly appreciates the activity of Armenian peacekeepers in the Kosovo peacekeeping mission, and his visit is an opportunity to discuss the prospects of partnership, as well as regional developments. Colomina noted that NATO values the ensuring of peace and stability in the South Caucasus and is ready to assist in that process.
The interlocutors exchanged views on the Armenia-NATO partnership. Reference was made to regional and international security issues, and the situation created around Nagorno-Karabakh.
The Prime Minister presented Armenia’s positions regarding the demarcation and delimitation of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, the regulation of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the unblocking of communication routes, and the Armenia-Turkey dialogue process. Nikol Pashinyan referred to the understandings reached thanks to meetings held through the mediation of international partners and once again emphasized the importance of the international community’s targeted response to actions aimed at undermining stability in the region.
