What, in the end, is the “mistake” in our tactics and strategy in the fight against the “Corona” virus? This was noted by RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during a live broadcast on his Facebook page.
He, in particular, stated: “In my conclusion, the mistake is that we perhaps placed too much trust in the factor of individual responsibility of our beloved compatriots. If anyone takes preventive measures not to be infected, in the end, they take those measures not for the government, not for the prime minister, but first of all for themselves. Therefore, our entire strategy has been that for a certain period we present to people the seriousness of the situation, during that period expand the capacities of our healthcare system, and then go towards opening up and present people with guarantees approaching 100 percent, in which case they will avoid being infected with the ‘Corona’ virus.
Our assumption has been that when the citizen observes those requirements, they do so not for the government, not for the authorities, not for the prime minister, but for themselves, their relatives and friends.
There is an opinion that we have placed too much trust in that factor. Now the question is this: should we continue to place trust in that factor or not? Now too I think that, nevertheless, in the fight against the ‘Corona’ virus, the number one factor should be the individual responsibility of each of us, provided that the government sets a clearly visible and understandable condition that will guarantee the citizen against infection with the ‘Corona’ virus.
We have come to the conclusion through discussions that there are three rules that guarantee 95 percent protection against infection with the ‘Corona’ virus. First, do not touch the face with unwashed hands, wear a mask, wherever it is possible to wear a mask, and do not enter into any communication with other people without a mask, and maintain social distance. Our message continues to be that”:
Referring to the situation created today, Pashinyan said: “In Armenia, hundreds of people continue to be infected and to infect. We want to formulate a very simple problem and solve that problem. Each of us must not be infected and must not infect.
My call and request is that each of us, with our individual responsibility, help us to carry out, so to speak, a ‘Corona’ viral revolution. This is the main message.
Of course, we are also going to introduce certain administrative strictness. You know that a requirement has been set to wear masks in all enclosed spaces, including in cars, at the workplace, at stops. Observance of this rule will bring the spread of infection to an almost zero level.
In the coming days there are non-working days and there is a forecast that people will organise picnics in large groups. I ask and urge you to observe the stated rules”:
