Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, accompanied by the head of the Prime Minister’s staff, Arayik Harutyunyan, Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan, and Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Narek Mkrtchyan, visited the Soldiers’ Home, the rehabilitation center for Defenders of the Homeland.
The head of government, guided by the director of YSMU, Armen Muradyan, first toured the rehabilitation center, familiarizing himself with the ongoing activities of the specialized rehabilitation center created for soldiers with disabilities, future development programs, as well as the works presented at the exhibition-sale titled “Beauty from Soldiers” opened at the center. The boys will donate all proceeds from the latter to the rehabilitation center for Defenders of the Homeland.
It was announced that a special room will soon be opened at the Soldiers’ Home where the boys will study pottery, sculpture, and develop their skills in various directions.
Nikol Pashinyan was also presented with the “Carpet of Unity” project, within the framework of which the Soldiers’ Home and “Megerian Carpet” will jointly create a carpet with approximately two million five hundred thousand knots, in which every Armenian in the world has the opportunity to participate.
The loom of the Carpet of Unity has been placed in the rehabilitation center for Defenders of the Homeland, in the Armenak Urfanyan Hall, which was opened on the occasion of the 28th anniversary of the founding of the Armenian Army and which has been renovated and furnished with state-of-the-art equipment with the support of the “My Step” Foundation.
Subsequently, Prime Minister Pashinyan met with the Defenders of the Homeland receiving treatment at the Soldiers’ Home, familiarized himself with their rehabilitation process, and answered a number of questions of concern to them. During the meeting, at 11:00, the Prime Minister, together with the boys, paid tribute with a minute of silence to the memory of the heroic fallen of the 44-day war.
The Prime Minister noted that the government will continue to keep the issues of all soldiers with disabilities at the center of attention, and the programs will be aimed at providing them with necessary supplies and modern equipment, creating appropriate conditions for education, and ensuring the process of professional retraining. “It is important that soldiers with disabilities be prepared for a full life, taking into account their preferences and the state’s provision of educational components,” said Nikol Pashinyan, adding that this also contributes to strengthening the boys’ confidence in their own abilities.
Taking into account also the raised issues, the Prime Minister instructed the Ministers of Health and Labor and Social Affairs to study the presented problems and find the necessary means for their solution.
