RA Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Narek Mkrtchyan’s Meeting with the ADL Regional Board and the ADL Armenian Rights Council
On Tuesday, March 19, a meeting took place at the Tekeyan Cultural Association’s Beshgeturian Center in Altadena with the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, Narek Mkrtchyan, who delivered an extensive report on the overall current situation in Armenia.
Tamar Poladian Peron, chairwoman of the ADL Western US Regional Board, welcomed the guests and representatives of various organizations. Then, Dr. Raffi Balian, secretary of the ADL Central Board, introduced the guest Minister Mkrtchyan.
Before addressing various topics, Minister Mkrtchyan noted that as the person responsible for ties with Armenian diaspora parties for the “Civil Contract” party, he was pleased to state that an agreement for continuous direct contacts had been reached with the Armenian Democratic Liberal Party, particularly to cooperate on programs aimed at strengthening the statehood of the Republic of Armenia. He then provided general information about the initiatives undertaken by his ministry, paying special attention to programs for settling displaced persons from Artsakh in Armenia. He emphasized the ministry’s support in economic, health, and psychological assistance, especially regarding the creation of employment opportunities.
Minister Mkrtchyan also discussed the expansion of infrastructure, issues of strengthening the army, and pension programs. He provided clarifications on demographic strategies aimed at improving population growth and stressed the importance of succeeding in the “Crossroads of Peace” initiative, demonstrating efforts to strengthen Armenia’s security and stability.
He also addressed the conditions of the ongoing negotiations regarding border demarcation with Azerbaijan, also mentioning diplomatic efforts to free prisoners of war.
On behalf of the ADL Regional Board and the Armenian Rights Council, we express our gratitude to Minister Mkrtchyan regarding the latest developments in the homeland. The meeting served as an opportunity to more closely depict the progress and prosperity taking place in Armenia.
