As of today, 4 May, there is no longer a need to fill out movement permits in Armenia; by government decision, however, the ban on public transportation remains in effect.
This restriction will remain in force, given the high risk associated with public transportation in connection with the spread of the pandemic. Only taxis will operate.
Restrictions on almost all types of economic activity have also been lifted. As of 4 May, open-air restaurants and cafés are operating. Personal services, including laundry, cleaning and dry-cleaning services, hairdressers and beauty salons, are likewise permitted.
The manufacturing industry has reopened with all types of activity. Botanical and zoological gardens and specially protected natural areas have also been opened.
The operation of sports facilities is permitted exclusively with the participation of professional athletes for the conduct of sporting events.
With the lifting of restrictions, however, stricter oversight is expected.
Alongside the lifting of restrictions on types of economic activity and free movement in Armenia, guidelines have been developed in several directions as to what rules should apply in workplaces. They will help employers organise preventive work more effectively.
The rules and guidelines have been published on the government’s website, as well as on the Covid19.gov.am website. The principles are the same for all types of activity: ensuring social distance between workers and when in contact with clients, implementing various cleanliness measures — disinfection, ventilation, frequent hand-washing.
In cases where workers or clients have a fever, they must leave the workplace and consult a doctor. Among the other important measures is the organisation of remote work for vulnerable groups — persons aged 65 and over, as well as persons suffering from chronic illnesses — where possible. Organisations engaged in economic activity should work to eliminate meetings or hold them with small numbers of people, likewise ensuring social distance. Waiters at operating open-air cafés and restaurants must wear protective masks and gloves.
