Russia is ready to welcome the mediation efforts of European Union countries in the negotiations on Nagorno-Karabakh, if they contribute to the implementation of existing agreements. This was stated today, on 21 July, by Russian President’s Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov during a conversation with journalists, TASS reports.
“If the mediation efforts bring stability, predictability and help implement the existing agreements, then they can only be welcomed. In general, work in that direction would not go badly,” Peskov said, commenting on statements from EU countries that they intend to enter the trilateral format of negotiations around Nagorno-Karabakh.
The Kremlin representative recalled that the trilateral agreements of the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia were reached “with the rather vigorous participation of President Vladimir Putin”:
“He is in constant contact with both Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. We are now engaged precisely in the implementation and realisation of those agreements that have been reached,” Peskov noted.
