The Police of the Republic of Armenia has presented details regarding the intensified service carried out in Yerevan on the evening of 21 July.
We present the statement of the RA Police.
“On the evening of 21 July, an intensified service was carried out in the capital. Before the start, the Deputy Chief of Police, Aram Hovhannisyan, gave instructions to the officers of the Criminal Police Main Department, the Yerevan City Department and its subordinate units, the patrol service and the traffic police involved in the intensified service. He presented to the heads of the units the objectives of the intensified service: maintaining public order, ensuring road traffic safety, and preventing and detecting crimes and administrative offences.
During the intensified service carried out in Yerevan and on the road sections entering Yerevan, 49 persons were taken to police stations on various suspicions, searches and examinations were conducted, as a result of which various types of firearms, ammunition and other items were found. During the intensified service, 4 cases of illegal drug trafficking were also detected; various types of narcotics were found, including a substance resembling methamphetamine. A fake vehicle licence plate was also found. Two of the persons taken in were arrested.
We can note that the intensified service was effective. Such special measures are periodic.”
