Specialists from Russia’s Ministry of Emergency Situations continue demining operations in Nagorno-Karabakh. According to the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, they have examined more than 123 hectares of territory and discovered around 15,500 explosive objects.
The ministry noted that the pyrotechnic group of the “Leader” center is currently working in the Martuni region (previously in Askeran). Over the entire period, specialists have surveyed more than 110 hectares in these areas, where they found around 15,000 munitions. Local residents are providing assistance to the administration’s staff by reporting information about the possible presence of explosive devices in specific areas.
The department reports that among the discovered munitions there are already more than 6,800 artillery shells and 3,400 cartridges of various calibers, as well as more than 730 mortar rounds and more than 1,100 grenades.
Demining continues near the Afatli settlement in the Aghdam region. There, about 13 hectares of territory have already been examined, and 395 explosive devices have been discovered and neutralized, including 100 anti-tank and 196 anti-personnel mines, as well as 98 grenades.
The Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations’ website also states that the department’s specialists, together with Azerbaijani colleagues, are clearing the area by hand and with the help of two MV-4 demining machines brought from Moscow.
