Seyran Ohanyan Stripped of Parliamentary Immunity

The National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia stripped Seyran Ohanyan, head of the “Armenia” faction, of his immunity. Only the “Civil Contract” faction participated in the vote. It should be noted that on February 7, the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia, Anna Vardapetyan, submitted 2 motions to initiate public criminal prosecution against Seyran Ohanyan. The first was the motion concerning the alienation of military unit territories, which was discussed. The second motion was confidential and was discussed in a closed session. The National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia stripped Seyran Ohanyan, head of the “Armenia” faction, of his immunity.

Only the “Civil Contract” faction participated in the vote.

It should be noted that on February 7, the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia, Anna Vardapetyan, submitted 2 motions to initiate public criminal prosecution against Seyran Ohanyan. The first was the motion concerning the alienation of military unit territories, which was discussed. The second motion was confidential and was discussed in a closed session. The third motion, which concerns major abuses, was presented today.

Of the 107 deputies, 68 participated in the vote on the first motion, and 66 in the second (confidential motion) and third, as 2 members of the Civil Contract faction do not have security clearance.

All voted unanimously in favor.
