On Wednesday, 8 February 2023, representatives of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation, the Armenian Democratic Liberal Party and the Social Democrat Hunchakian Party held their periodic meeting at the “Shaghzoyan” Center.
The meeting first addressed the human and material losses suffered by the Armenian community of Syria as a result of the earthquake of 6 February, recording casualties and severe damage to homes, institutions, churches and community centers. On this occasion, the Armenian political parties express their condolences and reaffirm their solidarity in standing by the side of the crisis-stricken Syrian Armenians. The meeting also expressed its sympathy for the Armenians living in Turkey, who were not spared the devastation caused by the earthquake.
The meeting addressed the challenges facing Artsakh and the continuing blockade by Azerbaijan, which day by day further burdens the daily life of the people, creating new crises and difficulties.
The meeting affirmed that the Armenian community of Lebanon will continue its pursuit of claims through various initiatives, and that the challenges facing the Armenians of Artsakh will remain at the center of attention.
This year marks the 35th anniversary of the Sumgait massacres. Enemy Azerbaijan, after its inhuman and savage slaughter in Sumgait, continues to this day, with genocidal frenzy, its conduct aimed at the annihilation of Artsakh.
To honor the memory of the victims of Sumgait, the three Armenian political parties decided to organize a special event on Sunday, 26 February 2023, in front of the memorial placed in the precincts of St. Nishan Mother Church.
We therefore call upon the sons of our people to attend this commemorative event in large numbers and to make the voice of the Lebanese-Armenian community’s condemnation heard everywhere.
