Today, at the start of the RA government session, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan referred to the events taking place in Syria.
“Dear colleagues, as you are aware, yesterday the armed forces of Turkey invaded the Syrian Arab Republic. The RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs has, of course, already issued a corresponding statement, and I want to emphasise once again that the Republic of Armenia condemns that act of invasion. We are concerned about the situation, because, in our assessment, that act will further deepen the humanitarian crisis established in Syria. We call on the international community to take active measures to halt that illegal act and to protect the citizens of Syria along the Turkish border, including national minorities and their rights.
In this regard, I want to stress: as you are aware, the Republic of Armenia is carrying out a humanitarian mission in Syria, it is successfully carrying out that mission, and we will continue the implementation of that mission. I think it makes sense that today, after the government session’s agenda is exhausted, we discuss behind closed doors and exchange views on the situation created in the north of Syria, possible developments and our positions,” said the Prime Minister.
