The Security Council of the Republic of Armenia discussed the security situation around Mountainous Karabakh, assessing it as highly tense.
The analysis of the situation shows that the Republic of Azerbaijan, attempting to find fabricated justifications, is preparing the ground for launching new provocations and attacks in the direction of Mountainous Karabakh, including by accusing the Republic of Armenia of engaging in destructive actions regarding the peace treaty.
In the current situation, the Security Council deems it necessary to once again reaffirm the position previously voiced by the Republic of Armenia and proposes to the Republic of Azerbaijan to immediately begin negotiations on a comprehensive peace treaty.
The Security Council, drawing the attention of the international community to the possibility of military clashes in Mountainous Karabakh and on the Armenia-Azerbaijan border, deems it necessary to activate international deterrence mechanisms in order to prevent a new military escalation and ethnic cleansing in the region.
