A rather serious situation has been confirmed in the country regarding the coronavirus pandemic; in essence, we can say that we are dealing with a second wave of the coronavirus. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this on 26 May during a briefing after a Cabinet meeting.
According to him, they have been discussing for days whether the rules set by the Cabinet are commensurate with the situation. “The conclusion of our discussions is unequivocal: the Cabinet’s rules are effective in substance, and the problem remains in enforcing those rules. Unfortunately, we have a problem with the quality of enforcement of those rules,” the Prime Minister said.
“We will not hesitate to apply coercive measures, particularly regarding the wearing of masks. Our studies show that even the proper use of masks made at home is effective and can reduce the frequency of virus transmission to zero or bring it close to zero.
“Nevertheless, the administrative measures applied so far will be further tightened, and today they have already begun in various parts of the republic, starting with individuals and ending with legal entities. Stricter checks are being carried out on inter-provincial roads, and checkpoints are even being set up to verify whether all citizens in a vehicle are wearing masks in accordance with the established rule. But again I say: our main task is dialogue with our dear citizens,” Nikol Pashinyan stressed.
