The meeting between the foreign ministers of Armenia and Russia, Ararat Mirzoyan and Sergey Lavrov, has begun in Moscow.
At the start of the negotiations in an expanded format, Ararat Mirzoyan emphasized that the situation in the region is being strained by Azerbaijan’s belligerent rhetoric and military provocations. In his words, official Baku has the aim of carrying out ethnic cleansing in Artsakh.
The head of Armenia’s foreign policy department stressed that “in practice, there is no provision of the trilateral statement that Baku has not violated.”
From this perspective, Armenia “expects that the allies will take active steps so that Azerbaijan fulfills its assumed obligations and puts an end to the use of force.”
The meeting was followed by a press conference of the foreign ministers of the two countries.
