A three-day mourning will be declared in Armenia and Artsakh from December 19, and ceremonies dedicated to the memory of the war martyrs will be organized.

According to Armenpress, this was announced by Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan and President of the Republic of Artsakh Arayik Harutyunyan.

“On December 19, the 40th day of the end of military operations is completed. And in this connection, from December 19, a three-day mourning will be declared in the Republic of Armenia, and a memorial march will also be organized from Republic Square to Yerablur,” the Prime Minister said during a live broadcast on his Facebook page.

There will also be other memorial events in the country.

The Prime Minister noted that as of that day, it is likely that not all the bodies of the martyrs will have been identified. “We will have many unidentified bodies, but I think this state decision of this kind can no longer be postponed,” Pashinyan said.

The Prime Minister again assured that the work of searching for bodies, identifying them, and clarifying the whereabouts of the missing will become more active.

The President of Artsakh, Arayik Harutyunyan, also wrote on his Facebook page: “Dear compatriots, taking into account that on December 19 the 40th day of the ceasefire of the 44-day war is completed, we have agreed with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia to declare a three-day mourning from that day in the Republics of Artsakh and Armenia, to honor the memory of our martyrs who fell for the defense of the Homeland.

Their names will forever remain in our hearts and on the pages of Armenian history, obliging us to continue their patriotic work on the path ahead. Therefore, it will be a mourning of pain, pride and obligation for the Armenian nation.”
