The Acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, and the Civil Contract party’s candidate for Prime Minister, Nikol Pashinyan, records that the citizen of Armenia has won the snap parliamentary elections, and that it is time to restore public and national unity:
“Let us record that the people of the Republic of Armenia spoke, and the people made their decision, and the content of that decision is clear: it had been formulated already during the pre-election campaign, but let us record that what was predicted took place. And what was predicted was that the citizen of the Republic of Armenia would inevitably win these elections. And I want once again to express my words of gratitude and humility to all citizens of the Republic of Armenia, that having passed through these harsh trials, we again found each other as one whole, and here is the time to restore public and national unity,” Pashinyan said during a meeting with supporters at the Civil Contract party’s central office.
He emphasised that the people of Armenia made a second revolution in the last three years, and if the first was a non-violent, velvet, popular revolution, in 2021 there took place again a non-violent, again popular, but this time already a steel revolution. “And whatever we agreed upon, all those agreements will be implemented inevitably and irrevocably, one by one, because all those agreements, which were made within the framework of the Civil Contract party’s pre-election campaign, are now the will of the people, and the will of the people shall be implemented,” he said.
He also added that the page of election fraud in the Republic of Armenia has been irrevocably closed. “Of course, during this period our law-enforcement bodies were able to act quite effectively against vote-buying and other electoral frauds. I want to express special gratitude to the Police of the Republic of Armenia and the NSS for carrying out that difficult mission. We proceed from the assumption that it was naturally not possible to completely eliminate and neutralise those phenomena, and nevertheless, they had a certain impact on the results of the elections. But, in general, that the page of election fraud has been irrevocably closed in the Republic of Armenia, and that in Armenia the government will henceforth be formed only and only by the free expression of the people’s will, I think is undoubted and clear to all of us,” Pashinyan said.
He added that a moment has come when they must deal with the issue of restoring national and public unity. “I want to say that starting from the very coming days we will begin political consultations with all the healthy forces that participated in the elections, in order to understand their views on the future possibilities of consolidating our political life and public potential. We will also take steps to rally around the government the healthy business, cultural and scientific forces in our country and to involve them in solving the problems facing our country and state. This is a very important record, that the people of the Republic of Armenia gave the CP a mandate to lead the country, but I say again: we will do our utmost to discuss and rally around our mandate all the healthy public resources, and to formulate in the Republic of Armenia a national unity and national accord truly based on law and justice,” Pashinyan noted.
