On February 19, at around 19:40, near the village of Khnatsakh, a Ministry of Defence vehicle (a UAZ-type car) rolled into a ravine due to a snowslide, resulting in the deaths of contract soldiers Zorand Arzumanyan, son of Hrand, and Zorak Yeranosyan, son of Samuel.
The Ministry of Defence reported that 2 soldiers were transported to the garrison hospital with various injuries; the condition of the injured soldiers is assessed as satisfactory, and there is no threat to their lives.
The vehicle’s crew, attempting to reach the unit’s other soldiers to provide assistance in extremely poor weather conditions, displayed selflessness in carrying out the task.
“It is with deep sorrow that, as a result of the unfortunate accident, the aforementioned soldiers were killed.
The Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Armenia shares the heavy grief of the loss and expresses its condolences to the family members, relatives and comrades-in-arms of the soldiers killed as a result of the unfortunate accident,” the statement said.
