The United States continues to maintain its commitment to contributing to a secure, stable, democratic, prosperous and peaceful future for the South Caucasus region, State Department spokesman Ned Price said during a briefing with journalists.
“The United States remains committed to promoting a secure, stable, democratic, prosperous and peaceful future for the South Caucasus region. We continue to remain engaged bilaterally, with like-minded partners such as the European Union, and through international organizations such as the OSCE, to facilitate direct dialogue between Azerbaijan and Armenia to find solutions to all outstanding issues related to or stemming from the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict,” Price said.
“There have been several occasions when the Secretary himself has had the opportunity to bring together his counterparts from Armenia and Azerbaijan. We will continue this work, which, in our assessment, has the best prospects for advancing that vision of a secure, stable, democratic, prosperous and peaceful South Caucasus region. We, of course, want to see the parties themselves make progress. What a comprehensive settlement of this conflict will look like is not for us to decide. That entails hard work that the parties themselves must do,” Price said.
