The international community has sadly failed to stop the ongoing terrorist war by Azerbaijan, unleashed in the 21st century against the Armenians living in Mountainous Karabakh—an Armenian historic land (which was handed over to Azerbaijan by Stalin)—and carried out through a medieval-style siege.
Such a statement was issued by Baroness Caroline Cox, member of the House of Lords of the United Kingdom Parliament, Lord Alton of Liverpool, former Archbishop of Canterbury Lord Rowan Williams, Bishop of Coventry Christopher Cocksworth, President of the organisation “International Christian Solidarity,” Dr. John Eibner, and Member of Parliament Tim Loughton.
The authors of the letter noted that as a result of the closure of the Lachin corridor by Azerbaijan, an acute shortage of essential supplies has arisen, and deaths have already occurred due to the deprivation of the possibility of receiving medical care in Armenia.
“According to international law, there is a responsibility to foresee and prevent genocide, to protect the victims and to punish the aggressor. Despite condemnation by the UN Security Council, UNICEF and other international bodies, the de facto silence of the media regarding these acts of violence by Azerbaijan continues, which gives Azerbaijan the opportunity to develop its genocidal policy with impunity,” the letter stated.
The authors of the letter call on international leaders to “address this terrible tragedy immediately.”
“We hope that courageous and meritorious journalists will shed light on the sufferings of a people who, unfortunately, know very well the nature of genocidal crimes,” the letter read.
