Minister of Health Arsen Torosyan met with US Ambassador to Armenia Lynne Tracy, USAID Armenia Mission Director Deborah Grieser, and USAID Program Manager Astghik Grigoryan.
The Ministry’s information service reported that the current situation of the coronavirus disease, the Ministry of Health’s strategy, and the expected steps from cooperation were discussed.
In the Minister of Health’s view, the situation caused by the coronavirus is an opportunity to improve the condition of medical institutions in the regions and to conduct retraining courses with healthcare workers.
Regarding the fight against the coronavirus disease, Lynne Tracy positively assessed the government’s dialogue with the public, emphasizing the transparency of information in building public trust.
The Ambassador expressed readiness to support Armenia in overcoming the coronavirus, stressing that the needs of the healthcare system are a priority.
USAID has allocated support to Armenia to acquire necessary (PCR) tests, equipment, and personal protective equipment through UN agencies.
